Artist Reception at Tohono Chul
This past Thursday was the opening reception of Tohono Chul's "On the Desert: An Exploration of Fibers," exhibition. I was pleased to have two of my pieces included in this exhibit (topmost photo) alongside some stunning work by several other regional artists. Two favorite pieces included, "Tobasco" made from old sewing patterns (resulting in a spray of krinkled shibori-style tubes with colorful threads) by Monica Zavala-Durazo, and the wonderful “burr fur” coat by Kate Long Hodges (from her Marry Me Earth series). Curated by James Schaub and surrounded by lush Sonoran Desert, this exhibit and the gardens are worth a visit!
