"2000 Breaths" Meditation Mats

Design and hand-crafted by Kim Buchheit; © Kim Buchheit
In my on-going effort to live more in the present moment, I recently incorporated breath work into my textile making process. While creating these thick warm-and-woolly meditation mats (or table accents), I made two stitches on the in-breath and two on the out-breath. The total number of breaths per 20-inch round mat is about 2000. My hope is that this practice not only makes me more conscious, but also imbues my work with some sense of peace that is bestowed on others. My 2000 Breaths® felted wool textiles will soon be available in my Etsy shop.

Felted Acorns

Felted acorns by Kim Bucheit.
We took a seasonal break yesterday and made some cute and cozy acorns for the holidays. These little nuts are needle-felted and then glued into Gambel Oak acorn caps. A fun, upcycled (!) party favor or little treat for the nature-lover in your life! Available here...

Felted Bowls in the Woods

We ran into the woods today with a colorful bunch of new felted bowls to shoot. Fun to photograph them in the wild where they seem to belong. A small mule deer watched us from a distance :) [These new felt bowls are available in Kim's Etsy store... just in time for holiday gift-giving!]

While not quite ready to open our respective Etsy shops... Beth and I are working toward this goal :) Here are three bowls (85% wool, 15% mohair) I've just completed. Beth will post some of her lovelies soon. ~ Kim
